What Makes Me Different

There is one thing that makes me different than 99% of other 'hiking coaches' out there...

It isn't that I have done more hikes than everyone else (because I haven't).

It isn't because I hold any world records or first ascents (because I don't).

It isn't because I grew up in the mountains (because I didn't).

What makes me different then 99% of the other coaches out there is that I am a coach first and a hiker second

And while I have always loved adventure, hiking and the outdoors...

My first and foremost passion is coaching.

I first started my career at the ripe old age of fifteen as a junior athletics coach.

I started working in my first gym at 16, where I began my lifelong education in both the art and science of strength and conditioning.

I spend my university years studying the intricacies of exercise performance, human anatomy and physiology and learning to apply it to the everyday athlete.

And during all the years of my backpacking around the world, travelling from country to country and generally having a good time,  I funded my adventures through (you guessed it) coaching.

And throughout all of this, I have never stopped learning, I have never stopped growing, and I have never stopped driving myself to help my clients find that fantastic satisfaction of ticking off their goals, whatever that may be.

And over the last few years, I have been applying all that experience, all that hard-earned knowledge and all the wisdom of my training career, into the very specific demands of trekking and mountaineering.

And yes, that does make me a bit of a black sheep among all the other hiking fitness coaches out there...
