In this video, I share a simple foot-strengthening routine a hiker can use to build up their feet.
So many hikers struggle with foot issues. And this leads many people to explore ways to help strengthen their feet, so they can stay more comfortable on the trail. But one major problem many hikers run into is that their 'foot training' ends up taking a hugely disproportionate amount of time. To help, I'm sharing a simple foot strength routine that hikers can use, which is both time-efficient and covers many of the bases for your feet. Overuse injuries are a plague on the hiking community. Issues like plantar fasciitis, shin splints, hiker's knee and various forms of tendonitis are some of the most common problems hikers encounter (both in their training and their adventures).
While the specifics of overcoming particular injuries will change from injury to injury, several overarching ideas and principles can make a genuine difference in reducing the risk of overuse injuries. And that is what we explore in this video. Foot pain (in all its shapes and forms) is a pressing issue many hikers struggle with.
Unfortunately, the usual solutions many hikers try for this (such as trying a different shoe and/or doing some rolling with the ball) will only get you so far... Foot pain is a multi-faceted issue. And if you are not taking a comprehensive approach, you will likely not see the change you want (and it will continue to plague your hiking adventures!) To help here, this video details a few areas of training that can often make a significant difference for a hiker's feet.
