In this video lecture, I explain precisely how a mountaineer can develop their strength without running the risk of putting on extra weight (which they have to carry up the mountain). “I am weight training with light weight and more reps as I don't need to be dragging excess muscle mass up the mountain.” This a statement which I see all the time from mountaineers. And it really boils my blood. Because there is SO much wrong with this, but so many mountaineers take it as gospel. There are three big issues with following this thought process:
