I have started with something super similar. I do the aerobic power intervals(hill repeats) mid week and then a long normal hike with hills on the weekend. I'll probably add in a third medium intensity session like incline treadmill walking in the aerobic zone for heart health and for my needs its perfect. The intervals make a huge difference!
