​In this episode, I explain how hikers, trekkers and mountaineers can get strong, without putting on any extra weight in muscle. 
Strength training is amazing for hikers.

Everyone should be doing it.

But one common objection I hear is that hikers don't want to put on extra weight in muscle, which they will then have to carry around on the trail.

And considering how obsessive the hiking community can get over reducing pack weight, this is fair enough...

But there is a solution!

In this episode, I talk you through a science-backed approach to getting strong without putting on muscle.

You will learn:
  • The science behind getting strong (without muscle gain)
  • Why the common recommendation for avoiding weight gain during strength training is simply rubbish
  • Some simple training prescriptions a hiker can stick to in the gym, to ensure they get phenomenally strong (while not putting on a gram of extra weight!)
  • Why nutrition plays such a big role in this strategy (and what you need to do to maintain performance while preventing weight gain)
