Today I share a really common problem I see from mountaineers with their training... Here is a simple question for you this morning. In all the training you are currently doing:
Sometimes it can get easy to be caught up in the routine. Training, rehab, or whatever... You know this is a long term process, so are patient and keep on moving towards that. But months go by, and nothing changes. But the scary thing? You don't know that you are standing still! Because you are not paying attention. Maybe you don't keep a log of your workouts... Maybe you don't complete any regular strength and fitness assessments... Maybe you don't have any benchmarks to work off in your rehab journey... Whatever it is, standing still in your training is more common than you think. And if you are a mountaineer, with big dreams in your head, this is definitely something you want to avoid. But if you are nodding along with this, thinking this sounds a bit familiar, let me ask you something... If you are not improving, what are you doing? In my eyes, if you are working hard, putting in the time and investing all this effort, you should be moving forward. And more importantly, you should KNOW you are moving forward, (and that you are improving yourself for the mountain) rather than just assuming... Don't fall into this common training trap for mountaineers. Pay attention to your progress. Make sure you are moving forward. And if you are not, well, maybe it is time to find a new approach...
